TRAINING | Energy Modelling Platform for Africa | May 13, 2024
ESMAP's Electrification Strategies and Planning Team co-hosted the Energy Modeling Platform for Africa (EMP-A 2024) at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) in Accra.
EMP-A 2024 is the fifth iteration of the Energy Modelling Platform for Africa, and it aims to contribute to the creation of optimized investments for the energy transition in Africa. This is an excellent opportunity for participants to acquire free training, access to discussion forums, and receive coaching in models and tools for their energy planning needs.
The specific objectives of the platform are:
- Gather the energy planning and modelling community in Africa to share experiences, models, and data in climate, land, energy, and water systems.
- Support human and institutional capacity in Africa for integrated energy modelling and investment planning
- Support the development of centres of excellence energy planning in Africa
- Promote efficient and widespread use of open source modelling tools in support of implementation of the SDGs, the Paris Agreement, and Africa´s Agenda 2063
EMP-A 2024 took place from May 13-3, 2024 as an in-person event at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration.
