This new Tanzania Interconnector Project (ZTIP) will enable Zambia to access more sustainable and affordable energy to power its economy and boost job creation. The total US$292 million financing is provided in grant, of this, US$245 million is from the International Development Association (IDA),* US$17 million from the United Kingdom Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) through Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP), and US$30 million from the European Union (EU). In addition to co-financing, ESMAP has supported the preparation of this MPA through grants, including contributions from the ESMAP-associated Advancing Regional Energy Projects in Southern and Eastern Africa MDTF (funded by Sida), as well as through in-kind support.
