  2. ESMAP submits formal invitation letter.
  3. Potential partner accepts invitation by submitting logo and signed invitation letter

Yes, H4D accepts financial resources from its partners.

What is the partnership doing about climate change?

The Green Hydrogen Support Program and H4D are supporting several countries worldwide to reach their national climate goals as well as in their path towards decarbonization.

  • In Latin America and the Caribbean, the WB is providing concessional finance to Chile ($150 M), and has provided technical assistance to Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Panama.
  • In Europe and Central Asia, the WB is supporting Ukraine to achieve its goals of storing green hydrogen to generate electricity. Other countries like Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, have also received support from the WB.
  • In Sub-Saharan Africa, the WB is helping Mauritania, Namibia and South Africa to become global hydrogen players.
  • In Middle East and North Africa, the WB is supporting Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, and Tunisia in their efforts to promote their clean hydrogen industry.
  • In South Asia, the WB is providing Development Policy Financing ($3B) in support of the India green hydrogen mission. TAs have also been carried out in Bangladesh.
  • In East Asia and Pacific, the WB is providing technical assistance to Indonesia in hydrogen-related aspects.

Why are hydrogen industrial associations members of the H4D Partnership?

Business associations – not individual companies – are part of the H4D Partnership as the WB recognizes that the private sector will play a critical role to ramp-up the deployment of clean hydrogen projects. Moreover, the WB identifies that it will be essential to mobilize private sector financing for clean hydrogen to minimize dependence on scarce international and public financial support. In addition, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) is also part of the H4D Partnership, making it relevant to have private associations as members of this initiative.
