Lighting Africa: Promoting the Use of High Quality, Clean Electricity

Almost 70 percent of Africans are not connected to a power grid, because of this, Sub-Saharan Africa spends an estimated US$10.5 billion annually on low-quality, fuel-based lighting such as kerosene and candles. With the intervention of an ESMAP funded program - Lighting Africa, safe, clean, affordable off-grid lighting has been extended to rural and sub-urban communities. Link to a detailed feature story.
