Energy Storage Partnership (ESP) 12th Stakeholder Forum and Partner Meetings | Genk, Belgium | November 4-7, 2025

The Energy Storage Partnership (ESP), hosted by the World Bank’s Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP), will convene its Stakeholder Forum and 12th Partners’ Meeting on November 4–7, 2025, in Genk, Belgium. The meetings are co-organized by ESMAP and VITO, an ESP partner and internationally recognized research and consulting center supporting the Sustainable Development Goals. The Stakeholder Forum will bring together practitioners and experts from the battery and energy storage industry, government clients of the World Bank, ESP partners, and ESMAP donors. The event will provide a platform to share developing countries’ experiences with energy storage and to showcase the latest trends and innovations in storage technologies. The agenda will include site visits to stationary battery storage systems, with approximately 100 participants expected.

This year’s Forum builds on the momentum of ESP’s fifth anniversary meetings held in Marrakesh, Morocco, in partnership with Masen, which included a memorable site visit to the Noor Ouarzazate Solar Complex. (Watch the ESP anniversary video here.) The ESP meetings continue to serve as a vital platform for knowledge exchange on battery storage technologies tailored to the needs of developing countries. Past sessions have featured leading practitioners and investors and have explored a range of emerging topics—including long-duration energy storage technologies such as compressed air, flow batteries, and pumped storage hydropower—essential for storing energy with minimal losses over extended periods.
