Helping Global Cities Harness the Power of Energy Efficiency
May 15 2014

ESMAP's City Energy Efficiency Transformation Initiative allocated its first grants in April, supporting key cities and initiatives to integrate energy efficiency into decision-making, build the capacity of municipal officials, facilitate financing, and promote learning and exchanges between cities. Among the targeted activities are reducing water supply system losses in Karachi, efficient public lighting in Brazilian cities, and a low-carbon strategy for Shenzen, China. Another grant will support standards and financing for green buildings through the IFC's EDGE program.
